Parkinson’s Disease is a degenerative brain disorder that affects around 75, 000 Australians. With approximately 12,000 new cases diagnosed each year, the healthcare burden for Australia is large and continually growing. It is a progressively disabling condition with primary motor symptoms of slowness of movement, limb rigidity, and tremor.
On World Parkinson’s Day we would like to raise awareness for this disease and highlight the progress the Bionics Institute is making in developing new technologies and devices to address the unmet needs of those living with this disease.
