Participate in our research
Seeking individuals with tinnitus (October 2018).
We are currently seeking individuals over 18 with chronic tinnitus, preferably moderate to severe. Tinnitus, also known as ‘ringing in the ears’, involves the perception of sounds when there is no related acoustic source.
Call for research participants for Babilab (October 2018).
Are you the parent or guardian of a child under 12 months?
We are seeking children in this age group who have passed their newborn screening test to participate in a research project that aims to improve the early language development in children born with hearing loss.
Research participants with standard hearing (October 2018).
We’re currently seeking people over 18 years of age, are native English speakers, and who have standard hearing.
Do you often struggle to understand someone when there is noise around or over a distorted phone line? We call this “listening effort”, and it leads to tiredness and reduced quality of life. This is especially a problem for those with hearing loss. If we could measure listening effort then we would be able to find out which hearing aid designs and programmes reduce listening effort the most, and therefore maximise the benefits obtained from the hearing aids. In this project, we will develop a new way of measuring listening effort using near infra-red light.
