Inaugural Lions International Neurobionics Fellow appointed

The Bionics Institute is pleased to welcome Dr Wesley Thevathasan (Neurologist, Royal Melbourne Hospital) to our neurobionics team.  As the Institute’s first Lions International Neurobionics Fellow he will work with our engineers and scientists to develop and evaluate advanced deep brain stimulation systems to treat movement disorders. As well as being a busy clinician he is an active researcher, receiving NHMRC funding to determine how deep brain stimulation may improve balance and posture in Parkinson’s disease patients.
