If you have difficulty hearing your friends and family, or struggle in noisy backgrounds, you may have hearing loss. It can vary from mild to severe and can be debilitating for the person suffering from this condition as highlighted in the recent article “People think you are being rude: Osher Gunsberg reveals hearing loss” (The Age, 26 February 2018).
Stories like Osher’s are not uncommon and highlight the incredible importance of the research we are conducting. Our mission is to deliver bionic technologies that help improve human health and to change people’s lives. We are working on the development of techniques to protect and repair damage to the inner ear which may help people like Osher in the future.
However you can do something to protect your own hearing now. It’s not too late! Click here to read more about hearing loss and to help prevent it.
