Formerly the Bionic Ear Institute, the Bionics Institute has a long and distinguished history in hearing research.

 

Yet our focus has always been on the future – improving the performance and design of the cochlear implant and other bionic hearing devices so that more adults and children can benefit from this life-changing technology.

 

Current projects include sound processing research to enhance the perception of music and speech, the development of new techniques to improve the way the hearing nerve works, and ongoing research into the brain’s response to combined electric and acoustic stimulation.
