Overview

Building on the world-class capabilities of the team behind bionic hearing, the Bionics Institute is currently exploring implantable devices that monitor neural activity in the brain or the peripheral nervous system and stimulate nerves electrically for therapeutic applications.

Our focus is grounded in real-world applications to alleviate relatively common disorders such as Parkinson's disease and epilepsy.

The platform technologies being created will have application to other challenging neurological disorders, as well as certain psychiatric conditions (e.g., obsessive compulsive disorder).
