Tinnitus, also known as ‘ringing in the ears’, involves the perception of sounds when there is no related acoustic source. We are currently seeking cochlear implant recipients over 18 with tinnitus to be involved in a study that is developing a way to objectively ‘measure’ tinnitus using a friendly new brain imaging technique that uses light. Once we know how to measure tinnitus objectively, we can move forward into seeing which treatments actually work.
