Ms Karen Campitelli, Chief Operating Officer
Karen Campitelli is the Chief Operating Officer at the Bionics Institute.
Karen is passionate about enabling the multi-disciplinary research teams across the Institute to translate their work into health solutions.
Since joining the Bionics Institute in 2011, she has developed a strong understanding of the med tech sector and works closely with the research leaders to assist their teams in forging strong collaborative relationships with research and commercial partners.
Supporting the translation of novel ideas into granted patents, she has played a key role in the successful commercialisation of several projects, from managing the intellectual property portfolio to the eventual incorporation and investment into early-stage companies.
A problem solver and strong communicator, Karen is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Institute and supporting all members of the organisation to ensure that the Institute continues to meet its ISO9001 certification and governance requirements.
Prior to emigrating to Australia, Karen worked as a political lobbyist and strategist to the European Institutions for a number of international organisations based in Brussels, after completing her MA at KUL Leuven.
