Our research Hearing impairment Understanding listening effort ‘Listening effort’ is the extra effort required to understand what you hear, and it is especially challenging for people with hearing loss. Our goal is to develop a standardised method to measure listening effort, which could be used in clinical practice to help clinicians customize patient-specific treatments. The method that we are developing will also provide beneficial information for hearing aid manufacturers to help improve hearing instrument technology.
