Professor Max Ortiz Catalan discusses his ground-breaking research – the first documented case of a patient with an amputation above the elbow being able to control each and every finger of a bionic hand.

This research was published in Science Translational Medicine on July 2023 (Zbinden et al., Sci. Trans. Med., 2023) and is a result of work conducted by researchers at the Center for Bionics and Pain Research (CBPR), a multidisciplinary collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, and the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, all in Gothenburg, Sweden; the Bionics Institute in Melbourne, Australia; and the medical device company Integrum AB, Sweden.
