Professor Paul Fitzgerald
Professor Paul Fitzgerald is the Head of the School of Medicine and Psychology at the Australian National University.
He is an academic psychiatrist with a MBBS degree, Masters of Psychological Medicine and research PhD.
Professor Fitzgerald has conducted an extensive range of experimental studies and clinical trials, focused on the development of novel treatments options for patients with mental health conditions such as depression, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, PTSD, autism and Alzheimer’s disease. He has a special interest in repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and other novel treatments using forms of non-invasive brain stimulation.
Professor Fitzgerald has had continual national grant support for over 20 years. He has published several books, approximately 600 journal articles and been cited over 30,000 times as well as established multiple clinical rTMS services and founded several device and clinical service companies.
