Dr Sepehr Kazemi is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Bionics Institute.
Sepehr Kazemi, MD, PhD specialises in computational neuroscience, neural engineering and modelling. He has completed his doctoral studies at the University of Melbourne in 2026. His PhD research involved neural mass modelling of cortical signals under anti-seizure medications to help improve personalised drug therapy for epilepsy.
At the Bionics Institute, Sepehr works on developing models to improve cochlear implant programming as part of the Digital Twin platform, which aims to optimise cochlear implant care. Led by Dr Demi Gao, the research uses computational modelling to create personalised models of each recipient’s auditory system, enabling more accurate and efficient implant programming while reducing reliance on manual adjustments.
